Jacobs Jordan

Jacobs is originally from Metairie, LA, although he traveled the country with his family for several years in the early-90’s only to return and finish his secondary education at Destrehan High School with Honors. He attended Tulane from 2001-2002 as a computer science major, but left school to attend to family matters after transferring to the University of New Orleans in 2003. In 2008 he returned to his studies at UNO and received a B.S. in biology in 2009, and a B.S. in chemistry the following year. During his course-work he studied synthesis in the lab of Dr. Trudell where he worked on developing novel cannabinoid receptor ligands for biological evaluation. He began master’s coursework at UNO where he turned down a Board of Regents Fellowship, choosing to instead enroll at Tulane in fall 2011.
Jacobs joined the Gibb Group in March 2012 where he is working on the synthesis of novel water-soluble cavitands, and functionalizing deep-cavity cavitand derivatives. He also is interested in the binding interaction between octa-acid and SV40-TAg as well as other potential toroidal proteins. His more recent work has been the development of novel cavitands for exploring the direct and reverse Hofmeister effects. Jacobs lives in Destrehan with his wife and three daughters.
